Bonds of Marian Love was founded in the Easter Antioquia Region (Colombia) by Rodrigo Jaramillo.
On Wednesday, 14 July 1999, a group of young people approached Rodrigo seeking clarification about the Virgin Mary, as they had become confused by discussions with some Protestant brothers. Rodrigo took the time to address their questions and, noticing their enthusiasm and openness, invited them to form a prayer group. They gladly accepted the invitation.
When asked which day the group should meet, the young people suggested Fridays, so as to avoid distractions associated with social gatherings.
The first prayer meeting took place on Friday, 16 July 1999, the Feast of Our Lady of Mount Carmel. This date continues to be commemorated as the founding day of the movement
